DREAM A LITTLE DREAM
And it all happens at Habor City. Isn't Habor City a wonderful place?
First it's Silver Shadow. If you don't know what Silver Shadow is, check out Silversea's website here. Silversea operates a fleet of premium cruise ships, and Silver Shadow is the beautiful vessel that was embarked right at Habor City, next to the Wasa Queen. (And I expect you to burst out laughing here.) You see people queueing up for buffets in the Wasa Queen, and next to it on Silver Shadow you see a big row of verandahs on every single deck. Those balconies look really nice - 2 beach chairs and a table. Some curtains were left open, you can look inside and tell the rooms are very nice. And some people are dining in the very cozy looking dining hall.
Very nice. Although I don't know what they'd feel about the stop at Hong Kong. All they can do in a day is probably shop in TST, buy a lot since they need to spend money, go to the peak (during daytime - duh!), they probably would be too wealthy to take interest in Mong Kok. Nevertheless it must be a dream-like experience. To set sail in the sea, to have a nice room like that, to have a private balcony where you can do whatever you want with your lover, dip into the pool and jaccuzi on the sun deck, get a drink at night or watch a broadway style show, wake up in a totally different world... that's Hong Kong (probably making it a whole lot less romantic), but still, isn't that a dream come true.
I do have to say I love Victoria Habor especially at night. Victoria is something I can boast about Hong Kong. And I'm well aware that I don't have to be that cynical. Hong Kong is a rather lovely place, if you choose not to see the bad side - and if cruise passengers choose the right shops to go to (like LV/Gucci etc) I'm sure they'll be treated like kings and queens without problems.
But yes, sailing with a lover on a luxury boat like that is always a dream. There's something special about cruise ships and sailing. A voyage like that is care free. You don't have to take care of anything. You can eat, swim, dance, talk, drink, make love, wake up to new exotic destinations, look forward to another one or just savor a 5 course meal, get off at another pier or stay on the boat if you want some more eating, swimming, dancing etc etc... All the enjoyments experienced on the same trip, and you can do whatever at any time. Not to mention the white clouds and the big blue sea that's your own. I don't care if the people on the same boat have big fat bellies and white hair. I don't care if I'm one of them.
All I know is for a dream like that to come true, it takes a lot of hard work. And a lot of luck as well.
After saying a little goodbye to Silver Shadow I had to walk past LCX. And this beauty caught my eye. I usually don't get too obssessed with watches - certainly I wouldn't mind a Rolex or even just a Tag Heur (see how Brad Pitt looks so fine with one!), but then for watches that are affordable to me (which probably means a few hundred bucks, a thousand at most), the designs are usually quite bland, and nothing to be excited about. There are some affordable ones which are also quite nice - but without the rocks they just look kinda ordinary don't they?
But today I saw this watch. Absolutely love at first sight. It's a Police made - it's looks smart, not ostentatious (because there are no rocks and it only carries a Police tag), very black and very stylish. So seeing that 99% of the time when I spot out a stand-out piece from the display box, that piece also carries an oustanding price tag, I was expecting the watch to be totally out of the 'affordable' range. But I did ask the lady how much it costs anyway, just to confirm that I was right by assuming that since it's not so ordinary it can't be so affordable.
And to my surprise, it actually is quite affordable. Borderline affordable I'd say, but that makes it affordable.
And you can imagine the moment I put that thing on, I probably loved it even more. But I don't think I'll be getting it though, for several reasons.
1. It's only borderline affordable afterall. So even if that lady can give me a 10% off it's not something you can buy using EPS without much contemplation seeing your card swiped and think to yourself 'Oh shit what have I done.'
2. The watch is really nice but just as all other nice watches, you need a nice hand/arm to actually carry the nice watch. The Tag Heur wouldn't look that nice if it wasn't Brad wearing it. And the same Omega that looks so good on Pierce Brosnan would definitely look like a Temple St. find if it were placed on my very average/slim wrist (You know' average' doesn't really mean average for most of the time don't you? And oh wait a minute isn't the watch out of focus in that Pierce Brosnan add? So that you will never know whether that thing on Brosnan's wrist is indeed an Omega? But you get my point and also the point of that ad - that whatever's wrapped around his very beautiful wrist has to be divine.) So what I'm trying to say is I don't think I have what it takes to carry something that's rather eye catching afterall.
3. And that should make another new goal of mine - perhaps I'll have to see whether there are ways to make my arms (at least my wrist) look not so average. So that when people look at the amazing watch they won't go 'Look at that arm/wrist/hand (depend on how good their anatomy knowledge is)'... You don't want people to focus on a body part that you aren't that proud of. I still have limited fashion sense you know.
4. And to make me feel a little bit better (thus making point no.2 and 3 above playing a slightly less proportion in my decision making), the watch isn't good for all occasions anyway. It's a bit too stylish for everyday wear. No matter how good a hand/wrist/arm you have, it'd probably be a mismatch if you wear that with T-shirt and jeans. It'll look good for parties though. Especially with a smart shirt. But since it's not something I can wear everyday, I probably shouldn't even think about getting it. Just the same reason we don't get multiple eyeglasses just for the sake of matching clothes.
For some reason I feel that I shouldn't be letting you know specifically which watch I'm talking about. And no it's not the one in the pic. And I can't really tell you why not - just consider that as something too nice to even share with you. What a selfish brat I am. Yea I'm so afraid I'll see you getting that watch ahead of me so by that time I'll have to add point no.5 - "XXX got that ahead of me"... HAHA, not really, but I really can't tell you why. And you know it's partly about feeling hurt for not being able to bring home that love-at-first-sight, ya know. You see something you love so much but you can't make it your own. Always a bummer.
But I do recommend you to go visit Police's official website and browse their catalog just in case you want to get yourself something nice. They've got some excellent watches and accessories, a lot that I actually like. Becks is modelling their glasses, I'm sure you know that already.
Before leaving Habor City it was this:
A lot of action. Too much of Tom Cruise. If he hasn't gone a bit nuts I would like him more. But the movie has too much of him now. Nice to see Jonathan Meyers again. Not so nice to see Maggie Q. It's a bit weird cuz she's Maggie Q. This movie is all about Tom and the action. The story is crap. You don't quite get it - but they know it doesn't matter. Because they don't care to explain enough. Still, it's a fun film to watch. A lot of old tricks, but what more do you expect?
And choose the Ocean cinema, because it's simply the best one in Hong Kong. We had 3rd row seats, but that wasn't bad at all. A very wide screen that's even good for 3rd row, very comfy seats and excellent sound system - Ocean is still my favorite cinema.
The folks on Silversea must be sleeping already. What a waste.
BELIEVE IN THE HYPE
Some new videos to share. First are the 2 videos for Nelly Furtado's Maneater and Promiscuous. Maneater's been my favorite since its leak and Promiscuous is a grower. There's nothing cool about being promiscuous but there might be something cool about the song. And whether Nelly is sexy or not... decide for yourself. Very average videos but the songs are great. Consider these gems for boring times.
